Our founding team—including graduates from Wharton, MIT, and the Royal College of Art—has a proven track record of building unicorn software companies, where design, product, and engineering cultures are fully integrated. **Job summary** Avantos is seeking a Backend Engineer to join our team in building the Avantos web application from the ground up. * Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient backend services using Golang and Python * Collaborate with cross\-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features * Implement and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models using PostgreSQL * Work with event\-driven architectures and message queues, particularly Kafka * Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving our development practices * Manage and optimize our AWS cloud infrastructure * Troubleshoot, debug, and fix production issues * Write clean, maintainable, and well\-documented code * Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development and deployment processes **Your skills will include** * 3\-5 years of experience in backend development * Strong proficiency in Golang and / or Python * Experience with AWS services and cloud architecture * Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL * Excellent problem\-solving and analytical skills * Strong written communication skills **Nice to haves** * Familiarity with event\-driven architectures and message queues (Kafka) * Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) * Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools (ArgoCD) * Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform) * Experience in the financial services industry * Familiarity with microservices architecture * Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments * Experience with monitoring and logging tools
