Backend Engineer (Python)

**\*Native/Bilingual English is required for this role (read/written/spoken)** **Please upload your CV Resume in English.** **Monthly salary:** $4,500 \- $5,500 USD Along with our partner, we are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of their backend systems powering web and serverless applications. You will be responsible for ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability across APIs, serverless functions, and databases. You will mentor team members, drive technical decisions, and collaborate closely with frontend, DevOps, and Product teams. Their backend stack includes Python, AWS Lambda, PostgreSQL (RDS), and integrations with React/Amplify frontends. **Responsibilities:** * Lead backend architecture decisions and define patterns for serverless services. * Design, implement, and maintain scalable APIs (REST or GraphQL) for web and mobile clients. * Mentor and guide junior and mid\-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing. * Build and maintain efficient data models and optimized queries in PostgreSQL (RDS). * Design serverless workflows leveraging AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SNS/SQS, and EventBridge. * Implement robust security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms (Cognito, IAM, OAuth/OIDC). * Ensure observability and reliability through monitoring, logging, and automated alerting (CloudWatch, X\-Ray, DataDog). * Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure APIs meet product requirements and performance expectations. * Lead post\-mortems, RCA (root cause analysis), and process improvements following incidents. * Advocate for best practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and deployment processes. * Identify and reduce technical debt while improving system performance and scalability. **Required Qualifications:** * 5\+ years of experience in backend development or software engineering. * Strong proficiency in Python and backend frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, Django, or similar). * Hands\-on experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS (PostgreSQL), and serverless architectures. * Deep understanding of relational database design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning. * Experience designing and consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs. * Knowledge of authentication and authorization (Cognito, OAuth, IAM). * Proven experience leading engineering initiatives, mentoring engineers, and making architecture decisions. * Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and Git workflows. * Strong problem\-solving skills and ability to debug complex distributed systems. * Excellent communication and cross\-team collaboration skills. **Preferred Qualifications:** * Experience with AWS Amplify for full\-stack serverless applications. * Knowledge of event\-driven architectures (SNS, SQS, EventBridge). * Experience with caching, queuing, and background processing strategies. * Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (X\-Ray, CloudWatch, DataDog, Sentry). * Exposure to frontend technologies (React, TypeScript) for better API integration. * Experience with infrastructure\-as\-code (CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform). * Prior experience scaling serverless architectures for high\-traffic applications. **Success Indicators:** * Backend systems are highly reliable, maintainable, and performant. * APIs meet frontend and business requirements with minimal defects. * Incidents are resolved efficiently, and RCAs drive lasting improvements. * Junior/mid\-level engineers are mentored effectively and grow in their roles. * Technical decisions enhance scalability, security, and developer productivity. **Tools You May Use:** * **Languages \& Frameworks:** Python, Flask, FastAPI, Django * **AWS Services:** Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS (PostgreSQL), Cognito, CloudWatch, X\-Ray, EventBridge, SNS/SQS * **Databases \& Caching:** PostgreSQL, Redis (optional) * **Version Control \& CI/CD:** GitHub/GitLab, CI/CD pipelines * **Observability:** NewRelic, Sentry * **Frontend Collaboration:** React, Amplify **Benefits:** * A fully remote position with a structured schedule that supports work\-life balance. * The opportunity to join a forward\-thinking company transforming the future of film and television production through cutting\-edge technology. * Two weeks of paid vacation per year. * 10 paid days for local holidays. **Work Schedule:**  US Pacific Standard Time **\*Please note our partner is only looking for full\-time dedicated team members who are eager to fully integrate within their team.**
