Lead PHP Developer

We are seeking a dedicated **Lead PHP Developer** to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive PHP expertise and hands\-on development experience, with a strong focus on improving and refactoring legacy systems while building new, scalable features. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate with cross\-functional teams and play a critical role in shaping the technical direction of our product.   **Responsibilities** * Analyze and enhance the client’s legacy product, primarily developed in PHP (Sugar/SuiteCRM) and Java backend * Identify and resolve bottlenecks, improve system performance and stability, and propose architectural upgrades * Develop new product features in collaboration with Solution Architects, Product Owners, and other teams * Advocate for clear and effective solutions while supporting the development of new features * Manage onboarding for new clients and implement custom design changes based on client requirements * Collaborate closely with vendor development teams, including teams based in India * Act as a client\-facing representative, ensuring effective communication and alignment with American clients * Provide support for future migration projects, including transitioning from AWS to Azure * Review existing architectural solutions and offer guidance on best practices   **Requirements** * At least 5 years of professional experience in PHP development * Minimum of 1 year of experience leading and managing development teams * Proficiency with PHP 5\+ and optimization tools like OPCACHE/APC and PHP linters * Strong experience with MySQL, including knowledge of transactions, ACID principles, and slow log analysis * Familiarity with CodeReview processes and CI/CD pipelines * Hands\-on experience with Docker for containerized application development * Knowledge of Redis or Memcache for caching solutions * Experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks * Fluent English skills, both written and spoken, at a B2\+ level or higher   **Nice to have** * Familiarity with .NET technologies * Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services * Skills in refactoring using tools like xDebug * Knowledge of profiling tools such as xhproof * Experience with SugarCRM development and customization   **We offer** * International projects with top brands * Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers * Healthcare benefits * Employee financial programs * Paid time off and sick leave * Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses * Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000\+ courses * Global career opportunities * Volunteer and community involvement opportunities * EPAM Employee Groups * Award\-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn
