Senior SQL Engineer

**About the Role** We’re looking for a **hands\-on SQL Engineer** with deep experience in **Athena** and **PrestoSQL** to join a high\-performance data team. You’ll be responsible for writing, optimizing, and maintaining large\-scale SQL queries and data models that support analytical and reporting workflows across distributed data systems. This role is **purely technical** — ideal for someone who loves diving into queries, tuning performance, and transforming raw data into reliable, production\-ready outputs. **Key Responsibilities** * Write and optimize complex SQL queries for large datasets in **AWS Athena** and **PrestoSQL** . * Design, maintain, and improve data models (fact/dimension structures, partitioning, data integrity checks). * Build and manage data outputs in **CSV, Excel, or other analytical formats** . * Collaborate with data and business teams to translate data requirements into efficient SQL logic. * Perform **query tuning and cost optimization** for S3\-based storage environments. * Monitor query performance, troubleshoot data issues, and ensure accuracy and consistency. - **Required Skills \& Experience** * **3–6 years** of hands\-on SQL development experience (advanced query design, joins, CTEs, window functions). * **Mandatory:** Proven, production\-level experience with **Athena** and **PrestoSQL** . * Strong experience working with **data warehouses, data lakes, and S3\-based querying.** * Solid understanding of **data modeling concepts** (star schema, partitioning, data lineage). * Experience building and validating analytical datasets and exports (CSV, Excel, BI feeds). * Comfortable working in **fast\-paced, remote, data\-driven environments** . - **Nice to Have** * Familiarity with **AWS Glue, Redshift, or Trino** . * Experience with **Python** or lightweight ETL scripting. * Exposure to BI tools like **Power BI** , **Tableau** , or **Looker** . - **Ideal Candidate** * Hard\-working, detail\-oriented, and self\-driven. * Thrives in a fast\-moving, independent, and fully remote setup. * Communicates clearly and works proactively with distributed teams.
