Backend Software Engineer

**Location:** Remote or Hybrid **Type:** Full\-Time **Seniority:** Senior / Lead   **About the Role** We’re looking for a **Senior Software Engineer** with strong **backend engineering expertise** to lead the architecture, development, and scalability of our core systems. You will own backend services, APIs, data models, and cloud infrastructure. While this role is primarily backend\-focused, you'll also collaborate on React\-based frontend applications as needed. This is a **high\-impact, high\-ownership** role with significant influence on product direction and engineering culture.   **Responsibilities** * Lead the design, development, and maintenance of backend services and APIs. * Architect scalable, secure, and highly available backend systems using cloud\-native patterns. * Own DevOps initiatives, including CI/CD automation, observability, performance monitoring, and infrastructure reliability. * Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure (Lambda, API Gateway, EC2/ECS/EKS, S3, IAM). * Design and optimize NoSQL data models (MongoDB, DynamoDB, or similar). * Develop and maintain Node.js services and internal tooling. * Contribute to React\-based frontends (React, React Native, Electron, Next.js) when needed. * Ensure backend systems follow security, compliance, and data protection best practices. * Collaborate with cross\-functional teams to ship features and resolve complex issues. * Mentor engineers and participate in technical planning and architectural decisions.   **Must\-Have Qualifications** * 4\+ years of experience in backend\-focused software engineering. * Strong experience with **AWS services** (serverless, compute, storage, IAM, networking). * Proficiency with **NoSQL databases** (MongoDB, DynamoDB, or similar). * Advanced experience with **Node.js** or equivalent backend technologies. * Excellent problem\-solving skills, communication abilities, and technical leadership. **Nice\-to\-Have Experience** * HealthTech, clinical workflows, or healthcare integrations. * Frontend development with React, Electron, Next.js, or React Native. * Offline\-first or local\-first application development (sync, conflict resolution, caching). * Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS). * AI\-powered features (AI transcription, summarization, chatbots, LLM integrations). * DevOps and infrastructure\-as\-code (CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, CDK, etc.). * Event\-driven architectures (SQS/SNS, Kafka, etc.). * Security \& compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, LGPD). * Observability and monitoring tools (Sentry, Datadog, Prometheus).   **What We Offer** * Competitive compensation. * Ownership over backend and infrastructure strategy. * Opportunity to work with a modern, forward\-looking tech stack. * Mission\-driven team with a collaborative and supportive culture. * Flexible remote work options.   Even if this role isn’t the perfect fit, follow our journey — HosTalky is just getting started. 👉 Follow HosTalky on LinkedIn and join the movement to fix the disconnect in healthcare.
