Python Backend Developer

Build backend systems that directly support **early cancer detection** , where your code helps power life\-saving diagnostics at a global scale. We’re hiring a  **Python Backend Developer**  for a mission\-driven technology company operating at the intersection of  **biotech, data, and healthcare** . You’ll work on production backend systems that process complex, high\-volume data and support critical scientific and clinical workflows. This is a  **remote role** where you’ll be embedded with a senior engineering team building cloud\-native, distributed systems with real\-world impact. **What You’ll Do** \- Build and maintain backend services using  **Python**  and  **Django / Django REST Framework** . \- Design scalable, event\-driven systems using  **Google Pub/Sub** . \- Develop and operate services in  **Docker \+ Kubernetes (K8s)**  environments. \- Work with  **PostgreSQL**  to design reliable, performant data models. \- Implement and support  **workflow orchestration**  (e.g., Flyte or similar systems). \- Use  **Protocol Buffers (protobuf)**  for structured, high\-performance service communication. \- Collaborate closely with data, platform, and domain experts to deliver production\-grade systems. **What We’re Looking For** \- 6\+ years of experience. \- Strong backend experience with  **Python**  in production environments. \- Hands\-on experience with  **Django / DRF** . \- Experience with  **PostgreSQL** . \- Experience deploying and operating services on  **Kubernetes**  using  **Docker** . \- Experience with  **Google Pub/Sub**  or similar messaging systems. \- Familiarity with  **protobuf / protocol buffers** . \- Comfortable working in distributed, asynchronous systems. **Nice to Have** \- Experience with  **Flyte**  or workflow engines. \- Exposure to  **healthcare or life\-sciences data** , including  **FHIR / HAPI FHIR** . \- Experience on  **GCP** .
