**Job Description:** **Sr BESS Integration Engineer** **Responsibilities** * Lead the electrical design of BESS and hybrid PV\+BESS systems (AC\- and DC\-coupled), including single\-line diagrams, cable sizing, protection coordination, and grounding concepts. * Specify batteries, PCS/inverters, DC/DC Converters, transformers, switchgear, protection devices, auxiliary systems, and monitoring equipment. * Ensure compliance with relevant grid codes, protection and safety standards, and internal engineering guidelines. * Take technical ownership of installation and commissioning of BESS and hybrid systems at test yards and customer sites. * Develop and execute detailed commissioning procedures, checklists, and test protocols (FAT, SAT, functional and performance tests). * Perform on\-site system start\-up, parameterization of BMS/PCS/EMS, and tuning of controls and protection settings. * Lead troubleshooting activities (controls, communication, protection, performance issues), working closely with field technicians, contractors, and vendors. * Support O\&M teams during the early operation phase, including root\-cause analysis and corrective action plans. * Design and run performance test campaigns for BESS (round\-trip efficiency, dynamic response, ramp rates, SoC windows, degradation indicators, etc.) in both AC and DC\-coupled architectures. * Analyze time\-series data (field measurements, SCADA data) to compute KPIs, identify anomalies, and propose design or control improvements. * Prepare technical reports, test summaries, and performance reviews for internal stakeholders, customers, and certification bodies. * Collaborate with controls and software teams to integrate BMS, PCS, and plant\-level controllers (EMS/PPC/SCADA). * Define and validate control strategies for coordinated operation of PV, BESS, and other assets (e.g., curtailment, power smoothing, power\-to\-x use cases). * Define communication interfaces and data points (Modbus/TCP, IEC\-104, OPC\-UA, etc.) and support SCADA integration and FAT/SAT of communication. * Contribute to projects involving hydrogen (electrolyzers, fuel cells, H₂ storage) connected to PV/BESS systems. * Understand the basics of power\-to\-x concepts (e.g., power\-to\-hydrogen, power\-to\-heat, power\-to\-mobility, power\-to\-industry loads) and how BESS interacts with these value chains (sizing, operation strategy, constraints). * Collaborate with R\&D and product teams on the development and refinement of energy storage products and solutions (standard system architectures, control strategies, test protocols). * Support or lead experimental campaigns (lab, test yard, or field pilots) aimed at improving performance, reliability, and cost of BESS and hybrid systems. * Contribute to the definition of new product concepts for BESS and hybrid plants, feeding back lessons learned from field operation and commissioning. **Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in Energy, Electrical or Control Engineering (or related). * 7\+ years of experience in power systems, renewable energy, or energy storage projects, with significant hands\-on field experience (installation and commissioning) of PV and/or BESS systems. * Proven experience with: * Electrical design of LV/MV systems (single\-line diagrams, cable sizing, protection coordination, grounding). * Field commissioning of inverters, protection relays, BESS, PV plants, or similar power systems. * Operation and troubleshooting of grid\-connected systems. * Solid understanding of: * Battery technologies (Li\-ion and others), BMS, and degradation mechanisms. * PCS / inverters, transformers, MV/LV distribution and protection schemes. * Grid interconnection requirements, power quality, and safety practices. * Experience with PVsyst or similar tools for PV and hybrid PV\+BESS simulations. * Experience with SCADA platforms and industrial automation concepts. * Data analysis and scripting using Python and/or MATLAB (time\-series analysis, KPI calculation, reporting). * Proficiency with MS Office / Excel for engineering calculations and reporting. Preferred: * Master’s degree in a relevant area, ideally focused on BESS. * Knowledge and/or experience with hydrogen systems (electrolyzers, fuel cells, H₂ storage) and their electrical integration. * Experience with other generation sources such as hydraulic, wind, thermal or cogeneration plants. * Familiarity with power\-to\-x applications and their impact on system sizing, load profiles, and operational strategies. * Experience in R\&D or product development related to BESS, PV, hydrogen, or hybrid systems (e.g., prototypes, pilots, testbeds, experimental campaigns). * (Desirable) Experience in drafting or contributing to patent applications, invention disclosures, or other IP\-related documents in the energy sector. * (Desirable) Track record of technical publications, reports, or standards\-related work in energy storage, power systems, or renewable energy. * (Desirable) Experience with real\-time simulation or HIL platforms for testing control strategies. * (Desirable) Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
