Backend Automation Engineer (Python) — LATAM (Full-Time)

We are building an internal Brand Protection platform that replaces manual Google Sheets workflows with a purpose\-built backend system used daily by our operations team. This system captures web evidence, tracks infringement cases, identifies repeat offenders, and will later incorporate AI\-assisted detection and classification. This is **not** a consumer app, marketing site, or generic dashboard. This is an **internal operations system** where reliability, automation, and clean architecture matter more than UI polish. We are hiring a **full\-time Backend Automation Engineer** to own and evolve this system long\-term. What You’ll Be Responsible For * Building and maintaining Python backend services * Developing browser automation using Playwright (screenshots, HTML capture, metadata) * Designing and maintaining PostgreSQL schemas (cases, evidence, clusters) * Exposing backend functionality via FastAPI endpoints * Ensuring reliability (timeouts, retries, logging, error handling) * Supporting internal users (VA team) through tooling improvements * Incrementally adding intelligence (rule\-based clustering first, AI later) What You Will NOT Be Doing * No frontend\-heavy React work * No consumer\-facing product development * No AI agent experiments in v1 * No Shopify / ecommerce storefront work * No “move fast and break everything” behavior Required Skills (Non\-Negotiable) * Strong Python (3\+ years) * Experience with FastAPI or similar Python APIs * Browser automation experience (Playwright or Puppeteer preferred) * PostgreSQL / relational data modeling * Experience building **internal tools or admin systems** * Comfortable owning systems end\-to\-end Nice to Have * Experience with web scraping or data extraction * Familiarity with async/background jobs * Experience deploying Python services (basic DevOps) * Prior work on compliance, trust \& safety, or monitoring systems Location \& Work Style * **Location:** Latin America (Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, Brazil preferred) * **Type:** Full\-time (contractor\-style FTE) * **Timezone:** Americas (must overlap US business hours) * **Communication:** Written \+ async first, occasional calls Job Type: Full\-time Pay: R$70,484\.57 \- R$84,884\.64 per year Application Question(s): * Describe a Python automation or internal tool you’ve built that is actively used by a team.
