Back End Developer

Senior PHP Backend Engineer (Laravel / Symfony) **US Hours \| High\-Impact Platform \| Excellent Compensation** We’re partnering with a long\-standing US client to hire a Senior PHP Backend Engineer to help build and scale a mission\-critical enterprise platform used by real users every day. **This is not a CMS or agency role.** This is a backend ownership role focused on payments, workflows, reporting, and scalable services. If you’ve built and supported production PHP systems with real databases and real transactions, this role is worth your time. What You’ll Be Working On **As a senior member of the engineering team, you’ll help design, build, and stabilize core backend services that power:** * Payment processing and transactional workflows * Authentication and secure access services * Reporting and document generation systems * Internal and public\-facing REST APIs * Business process automation engines * You’ll collaborate closely with product, DevOps, and QA teams while helping shape technical standards and improving system reliability and performance. What This Role Actually Requires **We’re looking for engineers who have owned systems, not just tickets.** You should have: * 5\+ years of professional PHP development experience * Strong experience with **Laravel or Symfony** in production * Deep understanding of **relational databases** (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server) * Experience building or supporting **transactional systems** (payments, billing, financial workflows, etc.) * Hands\-on experience with **REST APIs and backend services** * Comfort troubleshooting **live production issues** * Experience deploying or supporting applications in **AWS, Azure, or GCP** * Ability to work **US hours** and collaborate with a US\-based team Big Plus (Not Required) * Payment gateway integrations (Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, etc.) * SaaS or multi\-tenant platforms * Workflow engines or reporting systems * Security\-focused backend work * Mentoring or code review leadership * Senior\-level ownership and real technical impact * Excellent compensation, benefits, and long\-term growth potential * Fast interview process (1–2 rounds max) * Work on systems that matter—not throwaway projects * A team that values clean architecture, reliability, and execution If you’ve owned **production PHP systems** and enjoy solving real backend problems at scale, let’s talk. **Message me directly** or apply here to start the conversation.
