Geotechnical Engineer, Junior

Our team in Brazil is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Geotechnical Engineer, Junior to join our Consulting Business line in the in Belo Horizonte \- MG office. **About the role:** * **Analysis \& Engineering Support:** Support stability analyses for slopes, waste dumps, embankments, and tailings structures using appropriate software. Assist in the development of geotechnical models (conceptual and numerical). Perform basic geotechnical calculations—settlement, bearing capacity, material characterization, seepage, shear strength interpretation, compaction, etc. Participate in geotechnical risk assessments and support compliance with mine design criteria and regulatory requirements. * **Reporting \& Documentation:**Prepare technical notes, field logs, inspection reports, and instrumentation summaries. * **Support preparation of design deliverables (drawings, memos, design briefs, calculations):** Maintain organized datasets (lab results, survey data, instrument records). * **Collaboration \& Internal Support:** Work closely with senior geotechnical and tailings engineers on design, monitoring, and construction oversight. Coordinate with other Ausenco teams to gather data and support integrated solutions. Attend project meetings and contribute to design discussions **About you:** * Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; * Master’s or Postgraduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering is a plus; * 1 years of experience in the geotechnical field working in similar role; * CREA registration in Brazil; * Soil mechanics fundamentals: shear strength, consolidation, compaction, permeability, classification; * Understanding of mine waste materials (waste rock, tailings, saprolite/soft soils) and their behavior; * Experience or exposure to slope stability, seepage, and settlement analysis; * Ability to interpret lab and field test results; * Slope stability: GeoStudio (Slope/W), Rocscience Slide2/Slide3; * Seepage \& consolidation: SEEP/W, SIGMA/W; * CAD and drafting: AutoCAD, Civil 3D. * GIS: ArcGIS or QGIS; * Data analysis: Excel (advanced), Power BI, Python (optional but beneficial); * Ability to produce technically sound, well‑structured memos and reports; * Competency in managing datasets, validating measurements, and identifying anomalous trends; * Clear communication (written and verbal) for cross\-disciplinary collaboration; * Strong willingness to learn and take direction; * Attention to detail in fieldwork and reporting; * Proactive problem\-solving with safety\-first mindset; * Ability to work in remote or field environments; * Proficient English Level. **Why Ausenco?** We support individual growth and aim to allow you to work in a way that plays to your strengths and cover your needs. **Get to know our value proposition:** * **Compensation and work life balance –** Beyond a competitive remuneration package.
