Senior AI Engineer (Backend)

We are seeking a **Senior AI Engineer (Backend)** to join our team. As a GenAI Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain scalable AI\-powered backend applications, focusing on seamless integration of OpenAI APIs into production systems. You will collaborate with data science, DevOps, and cloud teams to automate deployment, monitoring, and optimization of AI\-driven workflows.   **Responsibilities** * Develop and enhance backend services for AI and large language model (LLM) applications * Integrate, scale, and manage LLM\-based solutions within cloud environments * Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes * Monitor and fine\-tune AI services for optimal performance * Set up observability and logging to track LLM API performance * Collaborate with DevOps and AI/data science teams to streamline workflows and boost system reliability * Utilize cloud platforms (with a preference for Azure) to host and scale AI applications * Build APIs and microservices to enable AI\-powered features **Requirements** * Minimum 3 years of experience as a backend\-focused AI Engineer * Advanced Python backend development skills, especially with FastAPI * Experience integrating and operating LLM APIs (such as OpenAI) in production environments * Knowledge of prompt engineering and orchestration patterns for LLMs * Ability to address LLM limitations, including latency management, cost control, retries, and fallback strategies * Experience designing backend architectures for scalable, LLM\-powered APIs * Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as technologies like Redis and Kafka * Hands\-on experience with Databricks for data processing and analytics * Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) for model integration and management * Fluent English skills (written and spoken) at a B2\+ level or higher **Nice to have** * Experience with agentic workflows for advanced AI automation and orchestration * Understanding of Model Context Protocol for enhanced model interoperability   **We offer** * International projects with top brands * Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers * Healthcare benefits * Employee financial programs * Paid time off and sick leave * Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses * Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000\+ courses * Global career opportunities * Volunteer and community involvement opportunities * EPAM Employee Groups * Award\-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn
