About Hiveclass Hiveclass is a K–12 curriculum technology company building a lightweight, interoperable learning platform designed for public schools. We prioritize simplicity, speed, and teacher usability over feature bloat. Student data privacy and accessibility are non\-functional priorities. We’re accelerating product delivery toward major partnership deadlines and need a **Senior Full\-Stack Engineer** to support development of our LMS. This role exists to **increase engineering throughput** while **reducing production risk** and execution load on our engineering lead. Role Summary We’re seeking a high\-ownership Full\-Stack Engineer to take end\-to\-end responsibility for defined product workstreams so our engineering lead can focus on architecture, schema governance, infrastructure stability, and critical integrations. This is not “junior support.” It’s a production\-level execution partner. **You will:** * Ship features independently * Own frontend and backend work * Write production\-ready code * Deploy responsibly within a risk\-gated workflow * Reduce review overhead rather than increase it What You’ll Own 1\) Feature Delivery * Build and deploy full\-stack product features (UI → API → database → production) * Deliver scoped enhancements to LMS functionality within defined architecture * Implement and maintain integrations (LTI 1\.3, QTI, API\-based connections) * Translate functional requirements into production\-ready code with minimal rework * Ensure backward compatibility and stability of live systems 2\) Frontend * Strong experience with **Svelte** and **SvelteKit** * **Build performant, accessible UI components** * **Implement clean state management and reactive data flows** * **Optimize for performance in a serverless environment** * **Ensure accessibility best practices (WCAG 2\.1 familiarity preferred)** * **Experience deploying frontend via** **Cloudflare Pages** (preferred) 3\) Backend (Cloudflare\-Native) * Build and maintain APIs using **Cloudflare Workers** * **Design and implement data models using** **Cloudflare D1** (SQLite\-based) * Manage object storage and media workflows using **Cloudflare R2** * **Understand serverless execution constraints (cold starts, edge compute)** * **Design secure, role\-based access patterns for student data** * **Write efficient queries and data access logic appropriate for SQLite/D1** * **Experience working with Node.js environments (helpful but not required)** 4\) DevOps \& Production Discipline * Work within a risk\-gated workflow **On guarded tasks:** * Write clear, well\-documented pull requests * Perform thorough self\-QA prior to review **On autonomous tasks:** * Consider production impact before deployment * Deploy responsibly without destabilizing live environments * Maintain awareness of production risk (availability, data integrity, privacy, accessibility) What Success Looks Like **Within 90 days:** * Current Sr. Full\-Stack’s feature implementation load is reduced by at least **40%** * **Feature velocity increases** **without** production instability Required Skills * 4\+ years full\-stack experience * Strong Svelte \+ modern JavaScript * Node.js backend development * REST API design * SQL proficiency * Experience deploying production code * Comfortable in fast\-moving startup environments Strongly Preferred * EdTech experience * LTI / QTI familiarity * Experience in LMS environments * Experience working in small, founder\-led teams * Ability to write clean internal documentation Traits We Value * High agency * Low ego * Writes before asking * Asks before changing schema * Ships cleanly * Thinks in systems, not tickets * Understands that velocity without stability is negative progress Reporting Structure * **Reports to:** CPO * **Works closely with:** Engineering Lead (architecture \+ schema oversight) Why This Role Matters Hiveclass is at an inflection point.
