**About AXIAL** AXIAL is building the operating system for Brazil’s capital markets — an AI\-powered infrastructure platform designed to connect traditional finance with the emerging tokenized economy. Our ecosystem will span five core verticals — Infrastructure, Comply, Intel, Distribution, and Services — supporting the full lifecycle of both traditional and tokenized financial assets. Our first product, **DataOcean** , will serve as the unified data lake for the Brazilian financial ecosystem, aggregating and structuring data from regulators and exchanges such as CVM, B3, ANBIMA, BCB, and Tesouro Nacional. This foundational data layer will power the broader AXIAL platform. AXIAL is funded through a pre\-seed round with a 30\-month runway. This role represents a **ground\-floor opportunity as Employee \#2** , working directly with the founder and shaping the company’s technical foundation. **About The Role** We are looking for a **Lead Backend Engineer** to design and build the architecture behind **DataOcean** , AXIAL’s core data platform. You will be responsible for building robust data pipelines that ingest, process, and normalize financial market data from dozens of heterogeneous public sources. The role involves working deeply with web scraping, structured and unstructured data formats, and complex public data environments. In the first months, you will build the initial version of DataOcean as the **first engineering hire** , working directly with the CEO to deliver a production\-ready prototype. As the platform evolves, you will help recruit the first engineers and lead the development of AXIAL’s broader engineering organization. **Key Responsibilities** * Design and implement the DataOcean data lake architecture on AWS (raw, processing, and curated layers). * Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and normalize data from multiple formats including CSV, XBRL, PDF, APIs, HTML, and FTP sources. * Develop custom web scraping systems to extract data from Brazilian regulators and financial institutions. * Manage and optimize the AWS data infrastructure stack including S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, Athena, and RDS/Aurora. * Build secure REST or GraphQL APIs to serve curated data internally and externally. * Implement monitoring, data quality validation, and pipeline reliability mechanisms. * Establish engineering standards including CI/CD, testing practices, and system observability. * Collaborate with the CEO on technical strategy and product roadmap. * Recruit and mentor the first engineering hires as the company grows. **Qualifications** * 5\+ years of experience building production\-grade backend systems. * Strong proficiency in at least one language: Python, Go, Rust, TypeScript/Node.js, or Java/Kotlin. * Hands\-on experience designing data pipelines and ETL/ELT architectures. * Proven experience building custom web scraping systems and handling complex public datasets. * Strong experience with AWS\-based data infrastructure. * Experience designing RESTful or GraphQL APIs. * Solid knowledge of relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL) and data modeling. * Familiarity with distributed systems, event\-driven architectures, and message queues. * Fluency in Portuguese and strong English reading comprehension. **Nice to Have** * Experience in fintech, financial data platforms, or capital markets infrastructure. * Familiarity with Brazilian financial ecosystem entities such as CVM, B3, ANBIMA, or BCB. * Experience with machine learning or AI applied to financial data. * Understanding of blockchain or tokenization infrastructure. * Previous experience as an early engineer or founding engineer at a startup. **What We Offer** * Founding equity reflecting your role as an early team member. * Direct partnership with the CEO and full ownership of technical architecture. * A clear path toward CTO as the company scales. * The opportunity to build the foundational data infrastructure for Brazil’s capital markets. * Remote\-flexible work model within Brazil. **Location** Brazil (100% remote) A vaga aceita trabalho remoto?
