This approach streamlines workflows, improves diagnostic accuracy, supports provider profitability, and enables clinicians to focus on delivering precise, individualized patient care. **Job Details:** We are seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to lead the design and development of our core platform services and integrations. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, systems\-level thinking, and experience leading complex backend initiatives. This role is hands\-on and strategic, guiding architectural decisions while mentoring engineers across the backend team. As a principal engineer, you will influence platform design, scalability, reliability, and security at a company\-wide level, working closely with product, data, and operations teams to deliver mission\-critical functionality. **Key Responsibilities:** * Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and reliable backend platform services and APIs. * Define architectural standards and best practices for backend services and integrations across the company. * Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into elegant technical solutions. * Mentor and guide backend engineers, sharing technical expertise and promoting engineering excellence. * Build and maintain robust integrations with third\-party systems, ensuring seamless data exchange and operational reliability. * Identify and drive performance optimization, scalability improvements, and platform enhancements. * Implement advanced monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to maintain high system availability. * Influence technical strategy and participate in cross\-functional architectural decisions. * Experience with HL7/FHIR and healthcare interoperability standards is a strong plus. **Required Qualifications:** * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. * 8\+ years of backend development experience, with expertise in designing platform services and complex integrations. * Deep proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, MongoDB, SQL/noSQL, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure). * Strong systems thinking and experience leading technical architecture for complex domains. * Proven ability to mentor and guide engineering teams, setting high technical standards. * Experience working in complex domains, ideally U.S. Healthcare. * English fluency required. * Previous experience working at Nubank or a similar fintech is highly desirable. **Strengths We Value:** * Strategic, systems\-level thinking and ownership of end\-to\-end backend architecture. * Ability to operate in ambiguous, fast\-moving environments while maintaining high reliability and correctness. * Mentorship and knowledge\-sharing skills that elevate the engineering team. * Pragmatic, performance\-oriented approach to platform scalability, observability, and operational resilience. **\*Please note our partner is only looking for full\-time dedicated team members who are eager to fully integrate within their team.**
