AI Engineer - Full stack (Conversational Systems) LATAM, Europe, North America

* This role is open to candidates in US, Europe, Canada and LATAM\*\* **About The Role** ****We are building a healthcare\-focused AI platform that automates patient engagement through conversational workflows (SMS and voice). At the core is an LLM\-powered chatbot that operates as a multi\-phase system combining structured data extraction, reasoning, message generation, and system\-triggered actions.**** ****We are looking for an AI Engineer to build and scale these conversational agents in production.**** ****Tech Stack**** ****Backend priorities**** Strong experience needed in: Node.js, Express, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis - Familiarity with these is ideal: Prisma (or other ORM experience), tRPC, HIPAA compliance ****Frontend priorities**** Strong experience needed in: React, TypeScript, Redux OR Zustand OR other state management libraries - Familiarity with these is ideal: Tailwind, AWS Cognito ****DevOps priorities**** Strong experience needed in: AWS, Terraform - Familiarity with these is ideal: Azure, HIPAA\-compliant environments ****AI priorities**** * Strong experience with: building LLM\-based features, AI chatbots, and conversational agents * Experience with: multi\-step or agentic workflows, prompt design, structured outputs ****Chatbot Architecture Context**** * 4\-phase workflow: analysis, decisioning, message composition, system execution * Redis and BullMQ for async job orchestration * Vitest used for testing and evals * Handlebars used for prompt and message templating * Telemetry used to continuously improve system performance **What You’ll Do** * Build and improve LLM\-driven conversational agents * Design prompt strategies and decision logic * Integrate AI with backend systems, queues, and APIs * Handle complex edge cases across conversation flows * Optimize performance, reliability, and cost of AI systems * Use telemetry and testing feedback to improve outputs **What We’re Looking For** * Mid to senior level, senior preferred * Strong experience building AI chatbots or LLM\-based systems * Strong backend engineering experience * Ability to work independently and take ownership * Strong English communication skills (written and verbal), required ****Engagement Details**** * Type: Full\-time * Duration: Long\-term 6 month contract (initial) * Location: Remote * Collaboration: Must overlap at least 5 hours with U.S. Pacific time
